Remnant 2 is no slouch when it comes to keeping secrets. But if they’ve got you stumped, you‘ve come to the right place. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to unlock the coveted DPS archetype, the Gunslinger.

First, I want to clear up some confusion about how the whole Gunslinger situation works, especially for those of you who may have pre-ordered the game. With any pre-order edition, the Gunslinger will be available to select as your starting archetype once you talk to Wallace in Ward 13. There is no preliminary item to obtain, no secret hunting to do, you just get it as a starting option. However, even with the ultimate edition, if you don’t select this Archetype initially, you’ll then be forced to find this item as it was originally intended.

The good news here for everyone is whether you pre-ordered or not, this guide will still help you also obtain 2 potent pieces of jewelry in the process. The whole thing is really straightforward, but it requires a little bit of patience.

The entire secret lies with Mudtooth and his infamous stories. Once you’ve finished the first world of the campaign and made your way through the Labyrinth, come back to Ward 13. Talk to Mudtooth and ask him to tell you a story.

He’s more than happy to oblige of course and after about 10 stories, he commends you on your patience, and rewards you with the Gunslinger’s Ring which increases firearm swap speed by 30% and reload speed by 10%.

It’s perfect for speeding up those dreadfully slow reloading weapons and enabling you to respond with weapon swaps much more effectively. It’s an easy reward to get and you can get it early, which is the key.

You’ll repeat this process but only after you’ve completed the second world. Come back to Mudtooth and ask for more stories. After a dozen or so, he’ll be so incredibly grateful for your time, he’ll reward you with up to 2 items. The Gunslinger’s Charm necklace and the Worn Cylinder. The necklace increases fire rate by 15% and reload speed by 20% which compliments basically any ranged build out there, especially this early in your overall Remnant 2 adventures.

If you already have the Ultimate Edition, and you chose the Gunslinger as your starting archetype then you won’t get an additional worn cylinder.

Take the Worn Cylinder up to Wallace in Ward 13 (where you got your starting Archetype) and for 10 Lumenite Crystals and 1000 scrap, he’ll craft your epic new Gunslinger Archetype item, the Iron Cylinder.

That Iron Cylinder is the key to unlocking the Gunslinger, simply slot the item as your prime or sub archetype item and voila, you’re in business.
